Realtree Online Stories
After guiding several young disabled hunters following a Wheelin' Sportsmen banquet four years ago, Klement called up his childhood friend and fellow hunter, Country Music Star Rhett Akins, with an idea.

"Those disabled children touched my heart, and I wanted to do something for them," Klement says. "I told Rhett that we had the resources to put on an awesome fundraiser for the Wheelin' Sportsmen program. With his involvement in the country music scene and my involvement in the hunting scene, we could put together a fundraiser that combined the best of both worlds."

A few months and a few phone calls later, the first Country Goes Huntin' charity concert was held in Dothan. It was an immediate success raising several thousand dollars for the chapter. The event grew from year to year and exceeded everyone's expectations during the March of 2005, by raising more than $100,000 through both ticket proceeds and the sell of auction items. Concert goers could bid on such items as signed Realtree-dipped guitars, an original script from the Blue Collar Comedy Tour signed by the entire cast and custom-designed turkey calls.

"Each year we added more and more celebrities," Klement says. "I added more hunting personalities, and Rhett added more country personalities. This event has really exploded."
